The loss of a much-loved family member is always difficult, whether that family member has two legs, or four. Our animal companions are very much a part of our family, and they deserve the same care and
consideration at the end of their lives as any other family member. With this in mind, the team at The Last Gift is proud to offer excellent in-home hospice care, palliative care, and end-of life services, including gentle euthanasia, for our patients.
Our award-winning veterinary team is here to help you make sure your companion’s last days are free of pain and fear. A gentle end, surrounded by loved ones, is the last, greatest gift we are able to give any family member. For those four-legged family members who cannot speak for themselves, that gift becomes even more important.
Often, our team is able to facilitate a peaceful, natural passing for your fur-baby. At other times, kind and gentle euthanasia to end suffering may be the better choice. In consultation with you, our veterinarian will develop a hospice care plan, addressing your companion’s comfort needs, and providing you with the tools to make sure that your animal’s remaining time is as comfortable and as joyful as possible. We will help you to manage pain, emotional and behavioural needs, normal and necessary functions such as eating and elimination, and explain to you the likely progression of illness so you know exactly what to expect.
We are pet parents ourselves, and we understand how important these last, precious weeks, days, hours, and even moments can be.
